Starting Anew

I love new beginnings, whether it be a job change, a move, or a new friendship. I truly do enjoy new beginnings. Why? With new beginnings comes the opportunity to, as Paul says, “put off the old self which is being corrupted . . . and put on the new self” (Eph 4v20-27).
New beginnings are an opportunity to make adjustments in our lives. Adjustments that better reveal our Christ-like character. I remember when I moved from Arkansas to Chicago I made a concerted effort to be more truthful. While I attended school in Arkansas I had a tendency to tell people what they wanted to hear rather than the truth. In Chicago no one knew me. They didn’t know about my struggle to control my tongue. It truly was an opportunity to start anew.
A New Beginning
On January 1, 2011, Kristin and I were blessed to join a team, including you, that is reaching lost students here in Lincoln, Nebraska. In a recent staff meeting we talked about how this new beginning for YFC / Campus Life is an opportunity to reassess . . . to put on Christ-likeness and best practices while throwing off things that have hindered. We celebrated the fact that this approach will lead to the implementation of some small, yet important changes to the ministry, allowing us to better reach students for Christ.
We are thankful that you are on this journey with us, the journey of being made new in Christ and in reaching students for the Lord. As you journey with us please join us in prayer. Pray with us for:
- New Believers – On the high school ski trip this last month many students made a decision for Christ. Pray that God would fill their hearts with a knowledge and passion for Him (Eph 1v16-18).
- Power – Pray that we all would be strengthened with power to understand the love of Christ (Eph 3v14-19).
- Regeneration – Pray for yourself and our staff that we would be made more like Christ through throwing off our sinful nature and living Godly lives (Eph 4v20-27)
Thank you for continuing to stand with us as, together, we meet students where they are and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
