Red Weekend Review

Eleven girls and five boys from our high school Campus Life ministry attended Red Weekend in Omaha.
The surprise activities they got to enjoy were a late night movie (The Grinch), a fancy Christmas dinner complete with karaoke, and an evening of fun, crazy activities at The Center: a huge, open facility where we had soccer, bubble balls, inflatables, games, a dance party, yard games and socializing going on.
God spoke to our students through the inspiring speaker who shared the story of David and really tried to lead the students in realizing God can use them in their own giftedness and talents for kingdom purposes when they strive to be a person after God’s own heart. He encouraged the students to think about the kingdom they are building: a “self” kingdom or God’s kingdom. Some lessons our students took away from the weekend were:
God can use you no matter who you are. You can make a difference for others and you can change the world.
God allows circumstances to come into our lives to mold us into the character he wants us to become.
We need to stop focusing on our own kingdom and start focusing on God’s kingdom. Change our mindset from pridefulness to humility. Try to live our lives for Christ and his purposes, not our own.
The students grew in their faith and knowledge of Christ. There were tears and realizations of change that needed to be addressed in their lives. It was a weekend that did not disappoint. Praise God for the continuing work He's doing in these students' lives!!
