Parent Life Update from Annie Rohde:
September was such a blessed month of ministry! We really got up and going with our launch, a zoo outing, and a budgeting workshop.
Our launch was a bigger and better competition. We gave teams a paper clip and they went to houses asking for something bigger and better. Relationship-building grows strongest through shared experiences and laughter. It was a great start to the year with eleven teen parents and friends joining us. Any guesses to the biggest item acquired by a team?! Look on our Parent Life Facebook page for the answer. Our zoo trip was another fun, shared experience, building relationships while young moms experienced the zoo with their kids. Kristin, our intern, made a deeper connection with a young couple; we are walking with them through the transition of becoming parents. Our budgeting workshop - always a highly requested event - was a great success with lots of good questions asked of Meagan Bouc who offers her expertise and hands-on money help to the teen parents.
We had a mentor meeting where we shared in worship, reflection, and training about having one-on-ones with young parents. Two lovely donors felt led to bless these mentors who are investing in Parent Life ministry so they provided gift cards for each of our mentors to take a young parent out for coffee! God is good. Those two donors also blessed a young mom, E, who desperately messaged me about needing diapers and not having the money to buy them until pay day. They took diapers and goodies to her at work. E posted on Facebook: "God is so good every time he sees me struggling he blesses me." And E sent me the sweetest message thanking them.
Praise God for all that He's already done this school year and all that He's at work doing that we don't even know about yet! How exciting. Thanks for joining us in Parent Life ministry.
