Mentoring Matters

Posted on by YFC Lincoln

Recently, I received my second phone call from a kid I mentored at the detention center who is now at Southern Peaks Academy, a treatment facility for kids when there is no other place for them to go. It was so encouraging to hear from that kid and know that I can keep speaking truth into his life and help him just by talking and writing. Most of the kids we work with have very difficult home lives. It is hard for us to imaging some of their situations. The kids always look forward to hearing from their mentor. Mentoring is incredibly important to these kids. Some of them never have a visitor while they are in jail. Mentoring is a great way to show them the love of Jesus and to share the truth of the Bible. Our mentoring program always needs people who are willing to commit to one hour per week to meet with a kid while they are at the detention center and one hour per week for the next year when that kid gets back home. You will be blessed if you would like to give it a try. Please call me at 402-420-7475 if you want to know more about this ministry opportunity.
