Brad pursues faith

In our Mickle Middle School club is a boy named Brad, who has been a Campus Life faithful for the last two years. Brad has a tendency to sit off to the side and not engage much in the high energy parts of our club, but when it comes to the more conversational parts, he locks on. A few weeks ago, I shared a message about my walk with God and the change that came about in my life through allowing Him into my life. Afterward, we had students write on a response card where they are at with God. Brad, however, poured his heart out about how he is starting to doubt his faith; how he’s scared that maybe there’s a different way to God; how he fears everything he had grown up believing is wrong.
After reading his response, I talked with him and suggested that he and I get ice cream and he seemed thrilled to do that. When we got together, I gave him a Bible, and we sat down and just talked through a lot of his major questions. On the ride home, he told me how much better he felt about the whole thing and how talking with me helped remind him of why he believed in the first place. This is the best part of being in this ministry--to come alongside a student who wants to pursue their faith and help them recharge their batteries and continue fighting the good fight. And with Brad, nearly every week since we met, he has shown up to club with his Bible in hand, full of book marks, highlighted verses, and new things to talk about. He even told me that the Bible I gave him is with him, “through thick and thin!” There is nothing more precious than the promise of God who says He will be with us always.
