Ashley Was Transformed by God’s Love

The past few years I have grown very close to a young girl named Ashley. Our story together is actually one of my favorites. The first day I came into Campus Life club at Culler Middle School to check it out and see if I wanted to volunteer, Ashley ran up to me and hugged me almost instantly. I had never met her before and very quickly learned that this wasn't her normal behavior. As I began learning about her life at home and school, I learned why she seemed so tough and had a hard and guarded exterior. She has had to grow up really fast, being expected to have an adult role at the age of thirteen.
The first time I got the opportunity to share the Gospel with her, she was so excited. She loved hearing about her heavenly father and how great his love was for her. She decided to accept Jesus, cling to God's unfailing love, and let go of the burden she was holding of her earthly father always letting her down.
The last few years, Ashley has had ups and downs with her faith. When bad things happened, it was hard for her to trust in God and who he said he was. When this school year started, there was something different about Ashley. She wasn't the same sixth grader I met a couple years ago. She is becoming transformed more and more by God's love. This is why I believe so much in this ministry. Ashley never had someone sit down and spend the time investing in who she was while also telling her who God is for her. I was able to do that and God is transforming Ashley into His likeness.
